Notable Moments Vol 3_ Phil Keaggy Notes

Part 1:

00.00 Stone Chapel theme #3 —2022 intro for Vol 3
00.18 Mouthpiece —1978 _ just one of those experiments in the Studio while recording The Master and Musician making mouth noises then singing unison lines with my Strat.
01.36 Jungle Pleasures — 1978 _another excerpt from the M&M album—playing lead on Les Paul
02.00 Follow Me Up —1978 _ also from M&M album—Les Paul lead
04.10 Barefoot—2023 _ from my 3rd acoustic sketches album. Playing my Olson through Pigtronix Infinity Looper
05.50 Good Bayou…2024 Tom Mowrey wrote this piece and Cocho Arbe arranged it and I did some guitar work on it. This piece is not finished but the ideas are really fresh and I wanted to share it. Tom Mowrey’s album is close to being finished and it’s a very creative project.
07.10 I Always Do —1987_ this is my ending solo to Mark Heard’s great song. I’m playing my brother Dave’s 1960 Gretch Anniversary model guitar. This is from the Sunday’s Child album.
07.35 Morning Of My Seeking—2023 _ my lead solo at the end of the song co written with Kevin Belmonte from the Pilgrimage album- PK and Friends. I’m playing my Zion.
08.24 All There Is To Know —1992 __ Solo break with Strat from the Crimson and Blue album.
08.39 Reap What You Sow—2020_ from the Gregorian Rock album I played on for Dale Benedict and his group. I’m playing the Zion.
09.36 Fearless —2018_ From the Bucket List album I did with Tony Levin and Jerry Morotta. Playing the Zion
11.05 Rumination—-2022 _ from the 2nd Musictellers album “After The Storm” We played live in the studio and I changed from Olson acoustic to the Zion electric guitar halfway through the song. I enjoyed making these projects very much!
13.06 The Call —2022_ This is a Jim Scaparotti tune with a great blues shuffle feel. I included 2 of Jim’s songs on Vol 2 of Notable Moments. His artist name is Tinman Project. Playing Les Paul.
13.56 Singing Bowl—2022 _ This is the instrumental track to a future release “Sonnets and Strings” I did with the great poet and writer Malcom Guite with my music backing his voice reading his sonnets and poems. Olson acoustic guitar and real singing bowls used.
15.15 Waiting For The Sun—2009 form the album “An American Garage Band” with Bobby Blazier on drums and Gary Lunn on bass. These were entirely free form jams starting with guitar and drums and bass added later. I believe I’m playing my Strat on this one.
19.56 Porchpuppy Theme—2010_ From the album “ InterDimensional Traveler with Jack Giering on keyboards and John Sferra on drums. I’m playing the Zion guitar.
21.58 Skipping Stones—2006_ from my Roundabout project—which was a collection of improv soundcheck using my Jamman and Line 6 DL4 for looping. Playing the Olson acoustic.
22.51 Praise Dance—1996_ This song originally was recorded for the On The Fly project but I also included it on the “Lights Of Madrid” album. There’s a lot going on with Classical guitar, acoustic. Mandolin. Fretless bass and percussion and keyboards.
25.11 Oh Boy—2005__ from the album “Phantasmagorical” It’s just me and drummer Mike Radovsky. This piece was a fun experiment on many levels. I’m playing a McPherson acoustic guitar.
27.10 Spend My Life With You—2018__ produced by Rex Schnelle and myself—a remake of my 1980 song. On this ending solo I’m playing my Yamaha SA 2000 ( thanks again nephew Eddie)!
28.36 Debra—2016_ This song was only released on one of my Back Room Trax releases. The song itself was co written with fellow guitarist Hadly Hockensmith back in 1983 in California. This ending solo was originally recorded back then to a 4 track Porta studio and I re recorded the song in 2016—got John Sferra on drums and flew in the old solo from all those years ago. This solo is dedicated to Sheldon Kallavig in Kansas City, who always liked this solo as it was…God bless you Sheldon!
29.54 In Memoriam— 1996_ From my album “On The Fly” I’m playing Olson acoustics and Parker Fly electric-Lyn Williams is on drums.

Part 2:

00.01 Lazarus Heart —2020_ Here’s a brief solo from Rex Schnelle’s production of Randy Stonehill’s classic song which appears on the compilation double album “There’s a Rainbow Somewhere” I’m playing the Zion.
00.30 Love The Way You Love Me — 2016 _ co written with Rex Schnelle—also a brief solo section where I’m playing a Flatline Delta 90 guitar through a Vox AC 30. From my “All At Once” album.
00.53 I Believe — 2018_ This bit of a harmony solo appears on Rex and my collaboration “Illumination” album. I originally composed the tune in 1971 but was lost and I only remembered the chorus so Rex and I wrote new verses. Playing also the Flatline Delta 90 on this.
01.22 Chase The Bad Away — 1998_ This solo appears on that self titled album from the late 90s. I played a Gibson 336, which I regret I sold way back. This album which also goes by the Bandcamp title “ Unspoken Words” is a fave of mine. I was blessed to have some wonderful players on this as well as talented producer/engineer Tom Laune.
01.52 Duct Tape Universe — 2002 _ Such a short solo snippet here from one of the “Uncle Duke Project” songs. Uncle Duke is my Dad’s younger brother-still kicking and in good health at 97 years old. Les Paul guitar played here.
02.02 Boat To Rio —2023 _ here’s recent recording from the last “Musictellers 3” album. In this portion, I’m playin my Olson with that plastic strip running in between my guitar strings near the bridge.
7. 03.03 Afternoon at Ghost Bridge —2008_ Rick Mitchell who is on the keyboard sent me this track to play to. It’s quite dreamy… I’m not sure Rick ever released the piece. It sounds like I was playing a Strat.

8. 04.54 Sweet Hour Of Prayer — 2024 __ Arranged by Josh Snodgrass, who has a You Tube channel where he shares a great number of hymns that he has recorded. Josh and friend Zack Taylor invited me to play on this beautiful arrangement. I played my Olson acoustic as well as my Zion guitar.

9. 06.06 Beside Grace — 2018 __ Artist Chad Roland contacted me to play an electric guitar on this powerful song he wrote. I’m playing my Zion guitar.

10. 07.16 Changes —1971 _ “Live at Carnegie Hall with Glass Harp”. John Sferra (Glass Harp’s drummer wrote this…Daniel Pecchio on bass. It was a Big Night for us, opening for the Kinks. I’m playing my ’71 Les Paul Deluxe through two Fender Twin Reverb amps.

11. 09.24 The Night Cafe — I think this was around 2001-02. This is one of those hard to find recordings from that period. Ken Lewis on drums and I played bass, electric guitar (Gibson ES 336) I’m also playing my acoustic through a Roland midi controller getting horns, trumpet solo and organ sounds. That midi set up hasn’t worked in a long time now, but back in those days I used it a lot.

12. 13.31 Symphonic Dance __ 1990. Here’s a snippet from that song which can be heard on my “Beyond Nature" album… Olson acoustic guitar. Many thanks to the late “JB” -Jim Baird for his wonderful engineering skills.

13.13.52 Abstract _ 2002__ backwards guitar intro to a very quirky little tune I recorded back then.

14. 14.04 Real Life — 2000 _ another backwards guitar riff. This was before I used protools so I did the backwards riff with my old Lexicon Jamman as on Abstract.

15. 14.32 Don’t Pass Me By— 1992__ Solo section on Les Paul from the “Crimson and Blue” album. What a great band—with John sferra, Phil Madeira and Wade Jaynes.

16. 15.03 Rockin In A Hard Place — 2008__ solo from Randy Stonehill’s and my “Mystery Highway” album. I’m soloing on a Strat.

17. 15.33 Who’s Your Driver — 2008__another Mystery Highway tune with Randy —fun riff…

18. 15.57 Brother Man —2023 __ Composed and performed by the talented Paul Christiansen and I’m playing my Zion electric guitar. Paul joined Glass Harp on many dates in the past. Really cool player!

19. 18.46 Passing Thought/ On Second Thought — 1996 __ playing my Del Lanjejans acoustic with a Jamman. These 2 pieces that I joined together was on my first “Acoustic Sketches” album-recorded on a Tascam 388 - reel to reel machine.

20. 21.52 Mosaic 4 —2022__ from the “Ravenna” album I recorded with my friend and collaborator Jeff Johnson. Jeff is super creative and we are releasing our 5th album this year called” Spinning On A Cosmic Dime”. On this Jeff is playing the keyboards, Mike Snyder on drums, myself on bass, classical and electric guitars.

21. 23.15 Good Stuff— 2018__ from the “Bucket List” album with Jerry Morotta on drums and Tony Levin on bass. Tip of the hat to my old “Happy” and Macca’s “Coming Up”. I’m on the Zion_that guitar has gotten a lot of use!

22. 25.14 When Night Falls— 1990__ The last song from “Beyond Nature”. Just 2 passes of the Olson acoustic and real live crickets in the background.
