about

Hi folks—
This collection is reminiscent of tapes my dear father-in law Vic used to do….that is, make cassettes of just my solos way back in the day. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but for us guitar players its just good fun! It’s those bits that make you go “yea, that’s a good moment or two!”
I didn’t belabor picking these bits. I just proceeded selecting solos from songs both familiar and unfamiliar as they came to me yesterday afternoon.
As I mentioned in my spoken introduction, I made a podcast about 15 years ago with this theme.
Hope you enjoy the ride….
The background music underneath my spoken intro is taken from a track from my project with Bobby Blazier and Gary Lunn “An American Garage Band”.
I’ve broken it into 2 parts.
Part 1 is as follows:

1. (00:00) Stone Chapel intro theme…just me playing my Zion Guitar.

2. (00:17) A Day In May …..excerpt from Musictellers album After The Storm. Players are: Shannon Hayden, Tony Gerber and Kyle Jones. Guitar used : Zion. It’s a special electric!

3. (01:19) Jam 2 from forthcoming Musictellers 3 (song is untitled at this stage) Same players as song #2 …Zion guitar..

4. (02:41) Breathe…from my All At Once release inspired by writer Katie Peltier worship song “Breathe On Us.” Supporting musicians-Steve Brewster drums, and Ian Keaggy keys. Zion and Strat guitars.

5. (05:24) Mosaic 7… from the Ravenna project with keyboardist Jeff Johnson…Mike Snyder on drums..Zion guitar

10. (12:34) March Of The Clouds… from The Wind And The Wheat 1985.This is the bridge section of this piece. One of my all time favorite moments in the studio with great players. Produced by Tommy Coomes, Alex Acuna- drums, Jeff Lams- keys and Dave Coy- bass. I’m playing the Zion guitar.

11. (13:38) Sounds… going way back to 1984.. from the Getting Closer album, John Pattituci- bass, Dave Spurr- drums and Smitty Price- keys. Ending solo here. Guitar used..handmade Fernando Villareal guitar

 5. (10:21) Agnus Dei… This is one of the most beautiful worship songs, composed by Michael W Smith. I was asked to play an intro for a live event where Michael was being honored for 35 years of music and ministry. This was me just working it out. I’m playing my Zion.

 6. (11:56) Everest… This is the intro to a song I played on written by Jim L’esperience—a fine songwriter! I Played on another one of Jim’s songs as well. I am on the Zion guitar.

10. (16:48) Eva….from the album I co produced for songwriter John Walquist and the very talented Ragnar Rozinkranz—Band Of Brothers. This is the long ending solo. I’m playing my Les Paul. The feel of this reminds me of my early Glass Harp days.
